Manchester United are set to join the race to sign Leeds United starlet Lewis Cook, reports Daily Star.

The midfielder has been dubbed the ‘next Paul Scholes’ as the player isn’t afraid to shoot from distance and is happy to pick up a caution for a heavy challenge – so there is no doubt there will be high expectations if Cook was to arrive at Old Trafford.

The 18-year-old has been in sensational form this term for the Championship side, which has attracted attention from Premier League clubs such as Chelsea, Arsenal and Liverpool who are all monitoring his progress.

And according to the Daily Star, the Red Devils are the latest club to join the queue to get his signature.

The club should make a solid profit on any future sale, with a potential fee of £12m already being discussed.

Manchester United are currently third in the Barclays Premier League having accumulated 62 points, one point behind Arsenal in second.
