Aston Villa boss Tim Sherwood has heaped heavy praise on striker Christian Benteke after seeing him net three goals against Queens Park Rangers on Tuesday evening.
In what was a relegation battle, Belgian striker Benteke scored a superb treble in the 3-3 draw with Chris Ramsey’s side.
And, boss Sherwood has discussed the performance of his top striker, who has scored seven goals in his last five Premier League games.
“Christian Benteke was very good,” he told BBC Sport.
“The second goal especially was excellent. We need him between now and the end of the season but it was disappointing to give away scruffy goals.”
The former Tottenham Hotspur boss then discussed the importance of the draw, saying his side did all they could to achieve a good result.
“It is disappointing. QPR took their chances at the right times,” he added.
“We are not equipped unfortunately to go anywhere and dig out a result, we have to play open. We have good footballers who entertain the crowd.
“It might be a very important point, only time will tell but we need to win games. It is a point in the right direction, though.”
