Real Madrid left back Fabio Coentrao has recently exclaimed his desire to join the Red Devils.

It was the August of 2013 deadline day when David Moyes came close to finalising a loan move for the Portuguese left back. The move broke down however Manchester United have always been admirers of the attacking full back and a summer move could be on the cards.

Madrid signed Coentrao from Benfica for £27 million yet they reportedly are prepared to cash in on the player for no more than £12 million.

Being a rather underused player for the Galacticos making only 53 league appearances in his four years at the club Fabio is said to be relishing the chance of a move to the Premier League Giants.

In an interview with Portuguese newspaper O Jogo Fabio said: “I already showed that interest in playing there (at Manchester United). It’s one of the best clubs in the world, a club that I admire a lot. It would be an honour to play there.”

However Coentrao is still hoping to make an impact for Real for the remainder of the season: “I hope to get more playing time at Real Madrid and for the coach to trust in me,” he said. “That has not really happened until now, ” he continued.

Luke Shaws current injury problems have led United to look at these opportunities. A return for Patrice Evra on a short term deal was touted as well as a reported enquiry for Wolfburgs Ricardo Rodriquez being made.

United are no doubt in the market for a Left back and with Fabio’s recent comments coming out public it is no doubt Louis Van Gaal will be considering a move.
