A look at Mohamed Salah’s impressive form for Fiorentina and a look into whether or not he can become an important player for Chelsea next season.

After joining Chelsea FC in January of 2014 Mohamed Salah didn’t exactly impress Stamford Bridge straight away. He has incredible pace that he showed off in his game against Arsenal coming off the bench to score in Chelsea’s 6-0 drubbing.

Since that day Salah has been lacking first team matches and was eventually loaned out in January 2015 to Italian club Fiorentina, this deal was a part of Juan Cuadrado’s move in the opposite direction.

Salah made his first start for Fiorentina on 14th February against Sassuolo, scoring his first goal for the club in the 30th minute. He then provided an assist to Khouma Babacar just two minutes after scoring.

Twelve days after that Salah scored his first European goal for Fiorentina, as his side Advanced to the round of 16 of the Europa League, beating Tottenham 3-1 on aggregate. Salah then scored the winning goal for Fiorentina against Internazionale on 1st March. Four days after that, Salah scored both of Fiorentina’s goals in their 2-1 away win against Juventus in the Coppa Italia semi-final first leg.

Salah is known for his blistering pace to beat opponents, flair, ball control and creation of scoring opportunities. He primarily plays a winger.

Upon signing for Chelsea, José Mourinho said of Salah: “He’s young, he’s fast, he’s creative, he’s enthusiastic. When we analysed him he looks the kind of humble personality on the pitch, ready to work for the team.”

With Oscar’s current form coming under some scrutiny could Salah slot right into his spot when his loan spell ends or will he have to fight newly arrived Juan Cuadrado?
