Manchester City boss Manuel Pellegrini has hailed his side’s performance after they beat West Bromwich Albion 3-0 on Saturday afternoon.

The Baggies were reduced to ten-men after just 90 seconds at the Etihad Stadium and City went on to win the game comfortably thanks to goals from Wilfried Bony, Fernando and David Silva.

Pellegrini told reporters after the game: “It was a comfortable win because we played with one player more for 89 minutes. Today we defended well and we concentrated well not to allow them to score.

“Unfortunately for West Brom, the rule is clear. He was the last man but the game is different when you have to play with one less player. It was a clear red card.

“Wilfried Bony is new in the squad and arrived after playing in the Africa Cup of Nations and he felt that. Every day, he is settling better and he is doing very well.”

Meanwhile, Baggies boss Tony Pulis has called on the Premier League to introduce ’30-second’ replays after Gareth McAuley was sent off due to mistaken identity after Craig Dawson fouled Bony in the area.

The 57-year-old told BT Sport: “The feeling this year is that some of the decisions have been very disappointing regarding game-changing decisions.

“We obviously don’t have a say in what the referees do and don’t do but it affects us, but if you are given an opportunity where the referee can have that 30-second call back, that eradicates everything that we are going to be talk about now.

“Whether it’s for the first decision where he has sent off the wrong player or in the lead up to the second goal where Saido Berahino has been kicked in the head, we could have a couple of calls there, sort it all out and we wouldn’t be talking about it.”
