Chelsea officials have called for fans to stop their ‘unacceptable’ sexism towards club doctor Eva Carneiro.

A report by BBC Sport claimed that fans of Manchester United and Manchester City were seen and heard chanting and shouting sexist comments towards Carneiro this season, which has led the Blues to make an official statement after watching further footage.

“The issue of equality is one we take extremely seriously and we abhor discrimination in all its forms, including sexism,” said a spokesman. “Such behaviour is unacceptable and we want it eradicated from the game.”

Carneiro was born in Gibraltar to a Spanish father and English mother, but studied medicine at Nottingham University before learning about emergency surgery in the Highlands.

She has previously worked for West Ham United and is a big supporter for Real Madrid.
