Man United and Newcastle United investigated in SPIT row

The Football Association will launch an investigation into the alleged spitting incident between Man United’s Jonny Evans and Newcastle striker Papiss Cisse.

The pair clashed in Wednesday night’s Premier League tie, with television replays suggesting that both men spat on each other during the unsavoury altercation.

It is now understood that the FA will begin an investigation into the incident and are currently waiting for referee Anthony Taylor to file his match report.

Both United boss Louis van Gaal and Newcastle head coach John Carver admitted they had not seen the incident when speaking to reporters following the game.

The pair are likely to receive lengthy bans if charged, similar to that of Hull City’s George Boyd, who spat on Joe Hart of Manchester City, last season and was suspended for three games.
