English press hurt by my World Cup goals, claims Luis Suarez

Luis Suarez has hit out at English media after being accused of biting Martin Demichelis in Tuesday’s Champions Leauge tie between Barcelona and Manchester City.

The Uruguayan striker scored twice at the Etihad Stadium to put the Catalans in pole position to qualify for the quarter-finals of European football’s top competition.

However, video footage reported by several English media outlets accused the former Liverpool striker of biting Argentine defender Demichelis.

Further footage has shown the incident did not occur and that the City centre-back extended his arm in Suarez’s throat.

And, the striker has hit out at English media for their attempt to cause him further trouble.

In an interview with Sport 890, Suarez said: “He put his hand on my throat.

“I do not understand why they [the English media] want to do this. They want to make trouble. The smallest thing that I do they want to make gigantic and exploit it.

“They must be hurt after what I did to them in the World Cup but they forget that I played in England and they should show me some respect.”

UEFA have since confirmed that the incident was not mentioned in the referees report and no action is being taken.
